The sacred pour: Turning an evening drink into a moment of clarity.

Our world demands us to always be constantly active. I feel that our brain rarely gets a chance to breathe with the amount of work and movement that surrounds our. For me, the antidote to being constantly alert isn’t yoga or meditation but a good glass of whiskey with a few ice cubes at the end of the day. There is a specific type of magic that happens from the first sip. It becomes a moment where that day’s noise beings to fade, our brain unwinds and the real thinking begins.

Relaxing isn’t just about stopping work but about shifting our focus. I’ve found that the ritual of pouring a whiskey as a switch off to my brain from the rest of the world. It lets my brain to unwind and drift into my thoughts. I begin to clam down and think about things important to me, reflect on my life, or even just watch a good show. It is never about drinking to forget but more about sipping to relax.

We are all thinkers, dreamers and believers. We need a chance to sit in a moment of peace for ourselves to take control of our thoughts and organize our life. Choosing to sit with a glass of whiskey is my act of being in peace. So, here’s to the evening pour- to the clarity it brings, the stress it relieves, and the quiet conversations we have with ourselves when the rest of the world falls silent.
